Like many counties in the state, Kern has been busy with meetings addressing multiple aspects of the drought situation.
Drought Meetings Focus on Groundwater
Kern County Farm Bureau President Greg Wegis said they have attended many meetings in the past month regarding future water plans and groundwater management. Wegis said they are focusing on the little water that is available, by getting the Governor’s recommended individual county groundwater regulation together. As far as the water system in California, Wegis has the same opinion as others in that state. Added storage is needed but if the extra water stored can’t get through the environmental standards, the money spent on those projects could be wasted.
