Getting a drip system to work with lagoon water is a win-win situation for the grower and the environment. The current use of the nutrient water is inefficient and can lead to groundwater contamination if not diluted properly.

Decrease Groundwater Contamination

Netafim Product Manager Dennis Hannaford says the challenge has always been dealing with the solids in the lagoon water, but he says not diluting that water enough can lead to contamination and a drip system would decrease those possibilities. Hannaford says they are still trying to iron out the details for winter crops, but for the summer season it should be extremely beneficial.
