Citrus Pest and Disease Prevention Committee
The California Department of Food and Agriculture is announcing one vacancy on the Citrus Pest and Disease Prevention Committee. The committee advises the CDFA secretary on statewide citrus pest and disease work activities, including outreach and education as well as surveying, detecting, analyzing, and treating pests and diseases specific to citrus.
The members receive no compensation, but are entitled to payment of necessary travel expenses in accordance with the rules of the Department of Personnel Administration.
A committee vacancy exists for a public member and will expire on September 30, 2017. Applicants should have an interest in agriculture and citrus pest and disease prevention. Livestock Identification Advisory Board-4 Vacancies
CDFA’s Bureau of Livestock Identification is announcing vacancies on the Livestock Identification Advisory Board (LIAB). According to Food and Agriculture Code 20469, the LIAB makes recommendations to the Secretary relative to improvements and changes in the administration and enforcement of the hide and brand laws and regulations. procedures which are followed by the Bureau of Livestock Identification; curbing of livestock thefts; the annual budget for the Bureau of Livestock Identification; and legislation which is designed to improve the function of the Bureau of Livestock ID.
The term of office for a member on the LIAB is four years. Members on the board receive no compensation, but are entitled to reimbursement for mileage. The present board membership consists of two beef cattle producers, two dairy producers, two registered feedlot operators, and one livestock marketing business.

The Bureau of Livestock ID is the sole state authority to register and inspect cattle operations and maintains a brand registration and inspection program to protect cattle owners in California against loss of animals by theft, straying, or misappropriation. The program consists of registration of livestock brands; inspection of cattle for lawful possession prior to transportation, sale or slaughter; recording of information obtained by such inspections; and assisting local law enforcement with investigations and prosecutions involving cattle theft.

Shell Egg Advisory Committee-2 Vacancies
CDFA’s Egg Safety and Quality Management (ESQM) program is announcing two vacancies on the Shell Egg Advisory Committee (SEAC). The committee makes recommendations to the secretary of CDFA on all matters pertaining to quality standards for shell eggs, uniformity of inspection, adjustment of fees for administration and enforcement, and the annual budget.
ESQM monitors egg quality and food safety standards at production, wholesale, and retail levels. The goal is to provide California consumers with eggs that are wholesome, properly labeled, refrigerated, and of established quality, while maintaining fair and equitable marketing standards in the California egg industry.
The term of office for a member of SEAC is three years. Members of the committee receive no compensation, but are entitled to reimbursement for per diem expenses such as mileage, lodging, meals, and incidental expenses.
The vacancies are for two industry members. One member is to be a company representative whose principal business is located out-of-state and is registered with the California Department of Food and Agriculture. The other member is to be a citizen or resident of the state of California and employed by a California egg company that is a registered California egg handler whose entire layer population is under 50,000.
