Last week the United States Department of Agriculture announced $66 million in funding for the 2014 Specialty Crop Block Grant Program.
California’s Portion of Specialty Crop Funding
California is set to receive $19.8 million of that funding for 60 projects. Some examples are creating economic opportunities for specialty crop producers through market development activities; increasing nutrition knowledge; developing local and regional food systems; and improving food access in underserved communities.
