The National Association of Conservation Districts is pleased to support legislation introduced this week in both the Senate and House to exempt America’s conservationists from unnecessary and burdensome reporting requirements.

“Farm bill and Natural Resources Conservation Service programs help American producers provide our nation with clean water and healthy soils; and yet they are made to jump through hoops to use them,” NACD President Brent Van Dyke said. “Farmers have enough to worry about taking care of their operations without having to complete arbitrary requirements that were never meant for them in the first place.” Continue reading

Over $46 million in federal funds will be awarded to 25 district-led conservation projects through the USDA Regional Conservation Partnership Program (RCPP) in 2017, setting a program record for conservation district leadership. The National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) congratulates both the districts selected to lead these 25 projects and those that will play crucial support roles as partners on other RCPP projects in the new year. The National Association of Conservation Districts is pleased to support the recent introduction of S. 3288, a companion bill to H.R. 5451 that would eliminate unnecessary and costly reporting requirements for American producers who participate in voluntary conservation programs.

“Farmers have a lot of work to do, and every second they’re stuck inside completing reporting requirements is time they can’t devote to making their living,” said NACD President and Maryland farmer Lee McDaniel. Continue reading
