Still Time to Submit Written Comments to USDA About Future Priorities

Dan Education, Research

The in-person listening sessions may be over, but the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Institute of Food usdaand Agriculture (NIFA) will still be accepting written comments for about another week on emerging needs and opportunities in food and agricultural sciences. Proving input will help inform NIFA on how to most appropriately prioritize areas of emphasis when it comes to agricultural sciences. Feedback is import in the identification of gaps in current programming, and in the determination of any programs which may be redundant or underperforming. Last year, about 8% of the comments received concerned Integrated Pest Management.

Stakeholder feedback that is received from both written comments and from the series of listener sessions will be treated equally. Comments will be allowed to consist of 250 words for each of the questions that center on research, extension, and education priorities in food and agriculture. Written comments can be submitted online through the NIFA website and will be accepted through Friday, November 30.
