The 25th annual Sommet de l’Élevage, held in Clermont-Ferrand, France, is gearing up for another year of premium livestock coverage. The event will be held on October 5–7, 2016.

AgNet Media, Inc. is proud to bring you on-site coverage of this event as Founder and President Gary Cooper travels to France to gain an international perspective on the global livestock industry.

Since its start in 1992, the Sommet de l’Élevage has expanded to host 1,400 exhibitors and over 2,000 animals. With a 1.9 million-square-foot showground, the Zénith d’Auvergne will be filled withinternational livestock business professionals from more than 28 countries.

The spacious complex allows for separate beef cattle, dairy cattle, goat, sheep and horse halls. Genetics, animal production and more will be showcased.

Thirty conferences and symposiums will be covering topics including: research, strategy, genetics, Common Agricultural Policy, international business, environment and animal health.

The Sommet de l’Élevage will have the finest French and European livestock with 750 beef-breed animals, 550 milk-breed cattle, 400 sheep and 300 horses on show or in competition. Several breed championships will be taking place at the event.

Attendees are encouraged to sign up for farm tours that will give them an exclusive look into the French livestock industry. There are more than 35 farm and agro-industrial sites that can be visited during the three days of the show. The tours include visits to beef and dairy cattle farms, sheep and goat units, agro-industrial sites and more. In addition to the traditional farm visits, there are four pre-tours on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, available to all international visitors.
