planningYou want to harvest vegetables year round? Cathy Isom tells us what you should think about planting right now for your Fall harvest. That’s coming up on This Land of Ours.

Planting for Your Fall Harvest

In just a couple of months, the fall harvest will begin. So now is the time to think about what you’ll want to see pop out of your garden. There are so many great fall fruits and veggies that do better after the summer months, so pull out the paper usdaand a pencil and start planning.

Late summer is the perfect time to get these veggies going and extend the harvest for months to come. Like Autumn and Winter squash pumpkins, green beans and peas. How about leafy veggies such as collards, lettuce, kale, and chard. Or these cruciferous veggies that will do well and hold up when the colder months come, such as broccoli, cauliflower, and brussel sprouts. Kohlrabi, like chard, is pretty good at growing in a wide range of temperatures. Don’t forget the root veggies, you’ll want to include a fall harvest with turnips, parsnips, beets, and radishes.
