Efforts to rid the state of a destructive grapevine pest got a big boost this week. Three counties and part of a fourth county are now off the quarantine list.

Growers in Santa Clara, Nevada and Santa Cruz counties along with a portion of Sonoma County got great news this week: The quarantine for the European grapevine moth is being lifted. It’s a result of government and growers working together reducing the numbers of this pest. But the quarantine remains in place for part of Sonoma County and all of Napa County. Growers along with other industry folks sign agreements to show how the crop is handled from the vineyard to transporting it. The European Grapevine Moth is found all over the world… and is can feed on other crops and plants besides grapes.
