Executive Director of the Yuba-Sutter Farm Bureau, Megan Foster, says there were fewer workers available during the peach thinning this year than last year, and that is likely a preview of what growers can expect during the harvest in the next few months. She said peaches are the most labor-intensive crops in the area, and of course where growers will have the most problems with labor shortages. She expects the counties to see shortages with other labor-intensive crops like tomatoes as well.
