Edible flowers have long been used in restaurants to add a little pop of color to your plate. But now-a-days you’re likely to find these flowers in many more menu items including food and beverages.

Among the trending flowers, according to Nation’s Restaurant News, is the Hibiscus.  Its beloved for its bright blossoms and fresh floral flavor that compliments many, desserts, like ice cream, and also cocktails and Lemonade.

Hibiscus, also known as rose mallow, is a plant that belongs to the mallow family. There are over 200 species of hibiscus that can be found in the warm and tropical regions all over the world and each variety differs in size, shape, and color.

The flowers and leaves can be made into teas and liquid extracts that can help treat a variety of conditions, including upset stomach, high blood pressure, bacterial infections, and fever.
