A Central California ag leader says growers need to make their voices heard on the issues that affect them, especially Central Valley growers on the topic of new nitrate regulations. Sabrina Hill has more.

As government policy-makers are considering changes to nitrate and water quality regulations, growers have a few opportunities to share their concerns on the issues. Executive Director of the Fresno County Farm Bureau, Ryan Jacobsen, says it’s important for growers to attend upcoming meetings.
“When the public comment comment opportunity comes, when the actual water board comes down to Fresno to talk about what they’re going to do … I know it’s a busy time of year. It’s during harvest time, but they need to make every chance or ability they have to come give their comments about how that’s going to affect their individual farms,” he said.
Jacobsen says grower comments are the only way for the Water Board to really know how changes can effect the growers and their businesses.
