Growers of many fruits are getting significant prices for their produce so far in 2013, according to the USDA’s recent fruit and tree nut price outlook.

Prices for apples and pears have seen the biggest increase, while prices for processing oranges are also up due to the citrus crop problems in Florida. Strawberries and seedless grape prices are also up, which is now also reflected at the grocery store.

But USDA Economist Kristi Plattner says there’s good news for strawberry-loving consumers. A strong strawberry season could lower retail prices.
