Another cover crops field day at the Natural Resources Conservation Service’s Lockeford Plant Materials Center (PMC) demonstrated how research is finding ways to make cover crops work for all producers. The facility has many trials looking at different species, new varieties, optimal mixes, and growing efficiencies. Lockeford PMC Agronomist Valerie Bullard introduced AgNet West to their research in 2018. Bullard said no matter if a grower is looking for erosion control, pollinator habitat, increased soil organic matter or added nitrogen, their work is continuing to find the best and cheapest way for producers to adopt the practice.
