The Sustainable Cotton Project held its annual cotton tour in the Central Valley in partnership with The North Face and the State Water Resources Control Board. Over 80 attendees with apparel brand affiliations attended this year’s tour and got to see firsthand how pima cotton is grown in California.

The first stop on the cotton tour was at Tranquility Farmer John Pishue’s cotton field as it was being harvested. The cotton tour then concluded the morning by seeing the next step in the process at the Westside Farmers Co-op Gin where they got to see how the heavy modules are moved and how the cotton is processed. Co-founder of the group “My Job Depends On Ag” Steve Malanca was also asked to talk to attendees about his group and its message. Malanca was showing tour participants the group’s decal that is continuing to grow in popularity.
