The UC Davis Postharvest Technology Center is now offering the first-ever produce professional certificate program. The program is the first of its kind in the world. Training will include topics like safety, marketing, transportation, harvesting, new technologies, and other topics. The program has a minimum of 76 hours of required courses and lectures, along with 44 hours of optional courses and lectures.

Some of the optional courses include emerging postharvest technologies, a citrus postharvest pest control conference, and fresh produce marketing strategies. The training takes between one and four years. People who attended one of the Postharvest Technology Center’s workshops in 2011 or 2012 can use that workshop toward their certificate after completing an online quiz about the workshop.
