The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced an enforcement discretion policy for certain crops under the requirements of the Produce Safety Rule portion of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). Almonds were included in that and Almond Board of California’s Tim Birmingham said it’s good news for the industry and awards producers for food safety standards already in place.
