Do you know what the farm share of every dollar you spend for food is? Everett Griner answers this question. He also tells you why it is has continued to decline in today’s Agri View.
Divide the dollar you spend on food that is produced in this country and farmers share would be less than .15. In officials records this is known as the Farm Share. Not everything, just the food.
Now, this a statistic measured by the Producer Price Index for Farm Products. You are not likely to hear it, or read it, anywhere else. My reason for mentioning it is, it is declining. It has been for the past 3 years. Yet, the part of your dollar that pays for services provided by the food service industries has increased over the past 5 years.
This isn’t intended to change anything, just to show anyone who hears this, that those who campaign about those rich American farmers, don’t read all of the facts about how farmers survive.
You see, without subsidies, most of them wouldn’t.
That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner…
