Agri View: Bad Weather Year

Dan Agri View, Weather

weatherEverett Griner talks about the terrible weather for agriculture this year in today’s Agri View.

Bad Weather Year

Millions of Americans will be glad when this year is over. The weather has been one of the worst years that most people can remember. Not just farmers. Everybody. Drought and stifling heart in the west. Floods in the northeast. And, suffocating heat practically everywhere.

It was worse than this back in the 1930’s. It wasn’t just the dust bowl which destroyed crops and drove farmers off the land. It covered 50 million acres. Once, back then, Washington D.C. had temperatures of 100 degrees for 21 straight days. Readings like 117 in Montana. 128 in Texas. 118 in Iowa. It was not only the crops. People suffered. You see, this was before climate change, and global warming, and air conditioning.

It has been a hard year weather wise. It hit everybody. Not just farmers. And, I don’t even like to mention those forest fires out west.

That’s Agri View for today. I’m Everett Griner…
