Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says we need more money for ag research. He says there will be a penalty if the money isn’t found. That penalty, he says, will be in food production and economic strength. He told the House Ag Committee that putting money into agricultural research means more than just helping crops and livestock.

He also took the opportunity to tell lawmakers the nation needs not only a five year farm bill, but that the bill includes a strong research title.
